Meet Anson

Anson Kendall in San Francisco, with Sutro Tower behind him

Anson knows students, and he knows schools. That understanding started early. He grew up in a family of educators and graduated from Latin School of Chicago, where he experienced firsthand the lasting impact of a school community.

Returning to his alma mater to teach alongside some of the same educators who had inspired and mentored him brought that experience full circle. Over 25 years in education, Anson has taught, coached, counseled and led programs from Pre-K through twelfth grade. Along the way, he has learned what helps students thrive, what families and schools need from one another and how the right school can bring out a student's best.

His work with families brings together everything Anson has learned. His experience consulting with schools, families and Fortune 100 companies has shaped how he listens, builds relationships and helps people move forward.

At Town School for Boys, where he served as Director of Secondary School Counseling, Anson helped students and parents navigate one of their family's most personal decisions. He loved helping students recognize what made them special and find the words to express it. Some of his favorite moments came when parents shared that their child was suddenly excited about high school or could finally picture themselves somewhere new. Those moments capture the joy Anson finds in helping students see new possibilities and believe in what they can become.

For Anson, few things are more rewarding than hearing a student say, “I felt seen there.”

Through the boarding school fair he built, Anson introduced nearly 3,000 families to admissions teams from around the world, opening up options they might never have considered. Admissions teams describe the fair as the largest of its kind in the country. Even families he had never met sought him out afterward to share how the experience had opened new doors for their children.

Sometimes, the best opportunity is a door a student just needs help opening.

For Anson, the relationships don't end when the school year does. Students, families and colleagues continue to reach out long after they've worked together. He especially enjoys hearing from admissions teams and seeing updates and photos of former students thriving at the schools they discovered together. Each one is a reminder of why this work matters: helping students find where they belong, families make thoughtful decisions and schools create places where students can grow.

Anson's Approach

Sees the Whole PersonIt's not always easy for students to capture who they are within the confines of an application. Anson takes the time to get to know your child and notice the interests, qualities and moments that bring out their enthusiasm. He then helps them find ways to express those strengths in their own words, so admissions teams can see the person behind the application.
Connects People and PossibilitiesAnson learns your family's hopes and values, pairs them with your child's interests and draws on what he knows schools are balancing to guide the admissions process. He brings children, parents and schools together so a hard process feels like a shared vision, with everyone working from the same picture.
Builds a Path ForwardA shared vision only helps if it leads somewhere. Anson turns what he learns into practical next steps, a timeline that fits your family or your school and honest advice when the choices are challenging.

Experience From Every Angle

Engineers, Programmers and Artists

Anson taught digital arts, robotics, coding and engineering courses while leading educational technology work at his schools, so he knows what a strong robotics, coding or arts portfolio looks like and how to present it to an admissions team.

Preparing Confident Applicants

Anson has prepared students and families for more than a thousand interviews, essays, tours and campus visits, helping each applicant show admissions teams who they genuinely are.

From Parent Nights to Boardrooms

Anson has presented at conferences, schools, board meetings and admissions events, often to audiences of hundreds, on topics from parenting and admissions habits to supporting teens with gaming and social media. His data visualizations turn complex topics into clear next steps for families, faculty and trustees.

Lens of a School Leader

Anson has led curriculum, technology, faculty development and strategy work, and has presented to educators and trustees on curriculum design, innovative teaching, virtual reality in schools and school efficiency models.

Counseling Leadership

Anson co-chaired the steering committee of school counselors across the Bay Area and advised schools and boards of trustees on improving admissions and counseling processes.

Stronger Support for Every Family

Schools and counselors have turned to Anson on everything from financial aid to waitlisted students to adding boarding schools to the list, so they can best support their families.
